Bill Federspiel was born in Saginaw and has lived in the City of Saginaw for the majority of his life. During his early adult life, Bill accepted a position as a police officer with the City of Cape Coral in southern Florida.
During his nearly 10 years of distinguished service, Bill kept himself informed of what was taking place in Saginaw County. He saw what was happening with the gangs, the drugs, and senseless homicides and felt a strong pull to return home. His desire was to serve the community in which he grew up and help the hometown community he loved.
After discussions with his wife Mandy, the decision was made and Bill accepted a position with the Saginaw Township Police Department in 1996.
In 2005, Bill was appointed to the Saginaw City Council. Bill served on numerous committees and worked hard to pass a community supported millage for the City of Saginaw Police Department.
Bill feels that it's time to bring new ideas and fresh energy to the Saginaw County Sheriff Department which has faced an onslaught of layoff threats for the past several years under the current administration.
In addition, Bill has served as a member of the of the Board of Directors Saginaw County 911 Authority (2005-2008)
Bill and Mandy are devout Christians. They attend Holy Family Catholic Church in Saginaw.
On January 14, 2008, Bill made a choice for his community. He tendered his resignation from the Saginaw City Council and announced his candidacy for the Saginaw County Sheriff post.
